What’s open in Sydney over Christmas and New Year’s? Coles, Woolworths and BWS trading hours

With the festive season fast approaching, it’s good to know exactly when you can pop to the shops at the last minute and when you can’t.

With Christmas fast approaching it is good to know when essential services will be open and when they will be closed.

Supermarkets will close all their stores nationally on Christmas Day and resume trading on Boxing Day, but shoppers have been told to check their store’s opening hours to see if they are closed or have limited trading hours.

Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day will see some of the big retailers limit their normal trading hours and close stores in some states.

Coles supermarkets will be open on Christmas Eve but some stores will have limited trading hours closing earlier than normal.

All Coles supermarkets will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day and will reopen on Boxing Day except in South Australia where metro stores will be closed and regional stores open.

Supermarkets will open on New Year’s Day but will close earlier than usual, except for stores in Tom Price in WA and metro stores in South Australia which will be closed.

Woolworths will reopen their stores on Boxing Day and continue trading throughout the New Year, but shoppers should check to see their store’s opening hours are limited.

Aldi

All stores will be closed on Christmas Day and will be open all other days but stores will have varying trading hours.

Shoppers have been asked to check what time their store is open on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Stores will be closed nationally on Christmas Day, except for a few in Tasmania and Victoria that will remain open.

Liquor stores will reopen on Boxing Day except for Alice Springs, and Red Hill and Milton Village in Queensland, and a few stores in WA that will remain closed.

Liquor stores will be open on New Year’s Eve but some stores may have limited trading hours, shoppers should check their store’s opening hours.

On New Year’s Day stores will be open nationally, but some stores in WA will be closed.

Dan Murphy’s and BWS will be open as normal on Christmas Eve but will close on Christmas Day except for a few stores in Tasmania and Victoria which will remain open.

All stores will reopen on Boxing Day and continue trading but Dan Murphy’s stores will close by 9pm on New Year’s Eve.

All stores will be open on New Year’s Day but will have limited trading hours.

Convenience stores and service stations

Service stations have unrestricted trading hours and can open on Christmas Day, as well as convenience stores such as 7-Eleven.

Westfield shopping centres will be closed nationally on Christmas Day and will have varying trading hours on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

On Boxing Day, centres will be open until 9pm for one of the biggest retail sales days of the year.

Westfields in Waringah Mall, the ACT and SA will be closed on New Year’s Day and other centres will have limited trading hours.
