New data shows Queensland and New South Wales have the most expensive streets in the country, and they are located in suburbs that were once considered affordable. (Channel 9) Elfreda Street in Enoggera, about eight kilometres west of the city, has just 26 houses and now has a median house price of $2.8 million, more than double the suburb median. Lynette Way in Daisy Hill has also become a millionaire’s haunt, with a median house price of $1.8 million. In Waterfront Drive in Karalee, the median house price is $1.4 million.
From Enogora to Ipswich, Redcliffe and Daisy Hill, these former working-class suburbs are now home to Queensland’s most expensive streets. (9th) The once affordable suburb of Redcliffe, Prince Edward Avenue now has the state’s most expensive homes, with a median price of $2.2 million, three times the suburb median. A five-bedroom, four-bathroom waterfront home with a pool sold for more than $5.5 million. It’s not just Queensland that has a demand for big houses on big blocks of land. Twin Creeks Drive, a well-known working-class western suburb of Sydney, is home to some of NSW’s most prestigious mansions, complete with cinemas and large garages, and with the new airport nearby, prices are skyrocketing. “Prices start at $2.5 million for a half-acre block and go up to more than $3.5 million,” says Konstantin Melnikov of Morton Real Estate.
