An Aussie father has revealed his dream has come true after taking home nearly $5m in a “life-changing” win, while a mystery person holds a huge fortune and may not know it yet.

A father’s dream to build his family a home has come true after a “life-changing” Lotto win, while a mystery person holds a huge fortune and is “likely oblivious”.

The South Australian father won just under $5m as the only winner in the Set for Life draw 3437 on Thursday, with the winnings paid in $20,000 monthly instalments for 20 years.

The Davoren Park man said the win would be “life-changing”, revealing he’d always wanted to build his family a nice home.

“I’ve got a young family, and this will help us build a house,” he said.

“I’ve always wanted to build a nice family home for us.

“It just means the world to my family and will really set us up for the future.”

He admitted he’d had a sleepless night following the news, at first unable to believe it after playing Set for Life fairly regularly before.

“I’ve had a few little wins recently and then the big one last night,” he said.

“I looked at my ticket last night, saw I had the numbers and showed my wife, but she was saying, ‘no we didn’t, no we didn’t’.

“All night we were literally going, ‘no we didn’t, no we didn’t’.

“It’s unbelievable!”

The man had purchased his two-game QuickPick through the Lott app, with the winning numbers 1, 14, 32, 43, 16,

36 and 34, and 2 and 12 as the supplementary numbers.

The win marks the 148th Set for Life division one winner across the country, with 12 winners in the 2024 financial year set to receive $57.6m across the next two decades.

Another lucky winner likely holds a $20.8 million ticket in their back pocket and “likely oblivious”, according to a The Lott spokesman Matt Hart.

The ticket was bought at The Lucky Charm Craigieburn in Melbourne’s north ahead of the draw on January 2.

“This is such an exciting and life-altering win for one of our lucky customers,” The Lucky Charm Craigieburn owner Nicole Knothe said.
