Valerie’s grandson Bailey told 9News his grandmother was strong. (Channel 9) “I’m still trying to process it and put it into words. It’s awful. You always hear about it on the news and then it happens to you and it’s shocking to think about.” “She had fought so hard in recent years, having overcome breast cancer, had two hip replacements and she had tried to live her life to the fullest.” Police said there was no wider threat to the public.
