In short:

Tayla Harris could still be playing for the Demons in 2025 as the Eagles consider their options for the four-time All-Australian star.

The Eagles traded Mattia Breed to the Magpies on the penultimate day of the AFLW trade period.

What’s next?

The trading period ends at 4pm (AEDT) on Wednesday.

Hawthorn has been busy on the penultimate day of the AFLW trade period, but the club is still considering a move for Melbourne Premier League forward Tayla Harris.

The Eagles have sent rising midfield star Mattia Breed to Collingwood, also picking up pick 26 in the AFLW draft.

The Magpies swapped picks Nos. 22 and 28.

Lou Stephenson is set to leave the Hawks to join the Western Bulldogs as part of a four-club deal.

The Eagles also received Adelaide Premier League player Najwa Allen as part of the deal, while GWS received Bulldogs defender Eleanor Brown and Crows defender Taylah Levy.

It remains to be seen whether the Hawks can sign Melbourne Premier League player Harris before Wednesday’s trade deadline, with the Demons having already offered the high-profile forward a new contract.

Hawthorn had been ahead of Collingwood in the race for Harris’ spot before backing out of a six-club deal to move to the Gold Coast with Melbourne teammate Lily Mithen.

The four-time All-Australian star’s potential move to the Hawks will largely depend on whether the club gives up its fourth overall pick to the Demons, who already have the second and 20th picks from the Suns.

Breed will be a welcome addition to the bottom-of-the-table Magpies, who hope the Northern Territory player can form a formidable partnership with star midfielder Bree Davie.

Breed has signed a two-year contract with Collingwood until 2024, averaging 13.6 clearances per game and 50 clearances in total.

The 23-year-old’s performance went from strength to strength after he was named a finalist for the Player of the Year award.

Collingwood women’s football general manager Jess Berg said: “Matia was outstanding in the midfield, always keeping the ball in front, making plays and being strong in attack.

Also on Tuesday, Adelaide United traded their No. 39 pick for former Rising Star Award winner Hannah Ewings, while Sydney United sent Montana Beruldsen to Richmond for Imogen Brown.
