The man said he “might not be home for a month” following the major win, which nearly went unnoticed after a simple assumption.

What was initially believed to be a string of scam calls and texts interrupting a man’s holiday has led him to pocket $1m.

A Darwin man had ignored calls and texts from The Lott officials while on holiday after he unknowingly won $1.2m in Saturday’s TattsLotto draw.

“I looked at the text message and immediately thought it was spam,” the man said.

“I had the trip from hell getting to my holiday destination, and I was not in the mood to let anything else spoil my holiday.

“I almost didn’t let it phase me, but I logged into my online account with The Lott, and I checked my ticket. That’s when I saw I had won $1.2m!

“Let’s just say there was some explicit language here and there – some colourful language I won’t repeat.”

The man said his win “hasn’t sunk in”, being one of the four division one winning entries across the country on November 9.

He said he’s eager to share his million-dollar win with his family.

“Once my holiday is finished, I’ll pay my son a visit,” he said.

“I might not be home for a month!”

The winning ticket was purchased on The Lott website, with the winning numbers of the 4519 draw being 30, 39, 6, 36, 5 and 43. The supplementary numbers were 45 and 17.
