A man has been charged with attempted murder after stabbing a 70-year-old woman multiple times at her home in Queensland. Police were called to a home in Short Street, Boronia Heights, Logan, around 11.40pm on Saturday and found a woman stabbed. Grandmother Valerie Patterson was stabbed in the face, neck and chest during the frenzied attack and was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

(Channel 9) A 40-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder, burglary, vandalism and domestic violence offences. Police say the accused man and Valerie were known to each other. The case opened at Beenley Local Court today and the accused man is due to appear in court again tomorrow. Valerie’s devastated grandson Bailey Patterson told Channel 9 News his grandmother was a strong person following the alleged incident. “She was always there for people, she opened her home to people.. if they needed a place to stay, this would happen… I can’t even describe it, it’s ridiculous,” he said.

You always hear about it on the news and then it happens to you and it’s shocking to think about.” “She had fought so hard in recent years, having overcome breast cancer, had two hip replacements and she had tried to live her life to the fullest.” Police said there was no wider threat to the public.
